This K9 is recognized for his ability to run and work with great speed,
fearlessness and never ending endurance when on the hunt or in play.
The Weimaraner is also known for being an anxious learner who is easily
trainable, friendly and obedient. He thrives as a member of the family and does not do well tied up or relegated to a kennel. Weimaraners are a breed that loves children and enjoys being part of his family pack playing ball, retrieving and swimming. They also do well in USA adoption after a rescue. They love the water and are happy to play for hours at a time, on the beach, on the land or any combination thereof. Their loyalty to their family and or owner is well known in K9 circles. They also do not normally fight with other dogs that they encounter. They do well in the USA heat and are usually easy to care for in USA. |

Breed Specifics: The Weimaraner (WYE-ma-rah-ner or VYE-ma-rah-ner) is a dog that was originally bred for hunting in the early 19th century. Early Weimaraners were used by royalty for hunting large game, such as boar, bears, deer, and foxes. As the popularity of large game hunting began to decline, Weimaraners were used for hunting smaller animals, like fowl, rabbits, and foxes. Rather than having a specific purpose such as pointing or flushing, the Weimaraner is an all purpose gun dog. The Weimaraner is loyal and loving to his family, an incredible hunter, and a fearless guardian of his home and territory. The name comes from the Grand Duke of Weimar, Karl August, whose court enjoyed hunting.
